New Engine
56-6
On Wednesday,
June 7 we received our brand new engine/pumper 56-6. After over
a year of specification meetings, design decisions and manufacturing
we became the proud owners of a 2006 KME engine that was custom
designed for our needs in our town. The new truck will be located
at the East Taghkanic Station and will respond to calls in our district
and mutual aid to other districts when requested. This truck also
has the following: Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS), 1,500 gallon
tank, 2000 GPM Waterous pump, Caterpillar C-13 engine, 5' - 2.5"-1.75"
hose, and a 2000 gallon portable pond for tanker operations.
Activities to Date
We have assisted
at a number of different activities this year. On July 8th we assisted
at the annual "4-Town Community Day at Lake Taghkanic State
Park. We helped with traffic control, selling BBQ tickets for Ancram
Fire Co., and landing Albany Med Flight - LifeNet 7-1 which was
on hand for display.
We have responded
to many calls, including a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), where we
assisted Greenport Rescue Squad, NDP, State Police, and State Park
Police at the scene. For More Information: Capital
News 9 Story.
Echo Calls
As of June 1
we are now online to respond to Echo level EMS calls. Echo level
calls are the highest priority calls typically involving the interventions
of CPR and AED. Members has been specially trained and are prepared
to assist the local ambulance squads at the scene. |
